Ingredients

For kanda poha

  • 2 medium size sweet potato
  • 2 teaspoons ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 green chillies
  • Roasted peanut powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon (optional)


Method

  • Grate the sweet potato and set it aside.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a kadai (Indian wok) over medium heat.
  • Add the slit green chillies and cumin seeds to the hot ghee.
  • Once the cumin seeds start crackling, add the grated sweet potato to the kadai.
  • Mix the sweet potato well with the tempering ingredients in the kadai.
  • Cover the kadai with a lid and let it cook for about 1 minute.
  • After 1 minute, remove the lid and add salt to the cooking sweet potato.
  • Mix the salt well into the sweet potato mixture.
  • Cover the kadai again and let it cook for another 1 minute.
  • After 1 minute, remove the lid and sprinkle roasted peanut powder over the cooked sweet potato.
  • If desired, squeeze some lemon juice over the khis for added flavour.
  • Give the khis a final mix, ensuring all ingredients are well combined.
  • Your delicious khis is now ready to be served!
